Disney Prom 2011

Prom was so much fun!  We took photos, danced with the DJ, played musical chairs, ate great food, and took home party favors and dance prizes!

Here are some great memories from a great prom night...

A Special Story and A Special Thank You

Sorry for the delay in posts, as I know many of you visit weekly.  This school year, we have had well over 3,000 visits!

For those of you who do not know, my father was recently diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer.  We are currently going through every process and procedure to make sure that he is happy and healthy.  Although my father has been sick, there is no possible way I could miss coming to JJC and seeing all my students' smiling faces every day.

With this story, comes a bit of happiness and unexpectedness.  For about two to three months, Timmy (Miss Platt's yellow lab) had been very upset.  He'd been barking more frequently and whining -- which is something that he learned as a puppy from Miss Platt, is not acceptable!  For days which turned into weeks, and into two months, he would complain non-stop, and Miss Platt was beginning to think that Timmy, now age 10, was getting old and sick.

Anytime Timmy saw Miss Platt's father he would scratch his leg nonstop, for hours.  He had to be distracted in order to get him to stop scratching with food and toys.  We know that hurting others is not nice!  Miss Platt's father's leg got injured from all the scratching and had to be looked at by a doctor.  When the doctor looked at Miss Platt's fathers' leg, he saw that something was not right.  He was sick and had to have surgery right away.  Timmy had been scratching his leg because he knew something was wrong.  As soon as Miss Platt's father came back from the hospital, Timmy no longer scratched and barked and whined.  Timmy Platt is now a hero!

Timmy Platt had been lazy and cranky for weeks!

Now Timmy is happy!  He hasn't left Miss Platt's father's side since he's been home.  And he's been showered with dozens of toys to commend his honor!

Monday, June 6 is our class prom!

Letter Cheers!

Over the past few weeks we have been reviewing our letters and letter sounds.  We have also been doing a lot of choral reading activities, in a fun and interactive way that the class really enjoys.

This week we will be putting together an alphabet cheer book!  We have been reading these cheers as well as interacting with them.  They are even taking over our classroom walls!
