Flat Stanley Update

Austin's Flat Stanley arrived this week from Brooklyn, New York.  We loved his jersey and learning all about his exciting baseball trip!

Jillian's Flat Stanley arrived early this week from Florida!  He came back with many new outfits!  We are busy making him a new closet to keep all his clothes.

When we arrive back from spring recess we will continue discussing the trips our Stanley's have visited, looking through pictures, letters, and souvenirs.  We will also be working on our interactive bulletin board outside our classroom, keeping you up-to-date on all the fun places Stanley has visited.  Our scrapbook will be made available for each child to take home for an evening beginning May 2.

When we return to school on Wednesday, we will be mailing our Flat Stanley's out for his second trip!

Happy Birthday, Michael!

Dig, dig, dig, there's no time to sleep.
For it's work, work, work, every day and every night
For it's work, work, work, when it's dark and when it's light.

Flat Stanley

Our outdoor bulletin board is currently under construction as we create an interactive board which will allow us to keep track of all the exciting places Flat Stanley will go.  We will be designing a map of the world and placing a push-pin to locate all the places Stanley visits.

As our project has become more exciting, we are getting participants from other classes!  We are so excited!  Flat Stanley will be taking a trip to Mexico, Massachusetts, and South Africa.

Each student will be able to create a page (or two or three or more) on all the collections they received from Flat Stanley --which will be used to create a scrapbook of Flat Stanley's exciting vacations.  We will be keeping it as a class token, but at the end of our project, each student will get to take their portion home.

Let's Get Ready to Celebrate

We have been busy designing our own seder plate, cup for Elijah, and a matzah cover for Passover.  We have been reciting the story of  Passover and singing songs for this special holiday too.  We even decorated props for our Passover celebration next Friday, April 15.

Next week we will be decorating our costumes for this special event.  Each child selected which role they would like to be in our play, and we can't wait for our performance, one week from today!

Flat Stanley Update

Hunter's Flat Stanley arrived this morning... in a tuxedo!

From his special trip to New York City's Serendipity he brought back iced hot chocolate.  We can't wait to make it, and try some on Monday!

Julia's Flat Stanley is back in town from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  We were so happy to see him again, and with two new outfits!

Andrew's Flat Stanley arrived today too.  We loved learning about the many exciting things he did in Atlanta, Georgia!  We all wish we could have swam with dolphins too.

Letter Time!

We love writing letters and drawing!

On a weekly basis, the class is "quizzed" on letters and letter writing formation.  We do this in a fun, interactive way which students enjoy and look forward to.  We have our own white boards where students are able to use Expo markers to write and erase letters.

With a little redesigning of our classroom, our dry-erase easel has been moved which will allow us to use it on a larger scale.  Check out our work!

We befriended construction workers and learned about wholes in the ground and how they get repaired
We learned that cavities are wholes inside our teeth.  To prevent cavities we should brush our teeth twice a day and floss daily.  Also, it's important to eat healthy foods, especially vegetables!

We loved our special dental bags!
