Flat Stanley is on His Way
Today we signed, sealed, and delivered our letters to our first host family. They were sent to local towns in Long Island, New York City and Brooklyn. Some were sent to different states: Florida, Illinois, Georgia, Kansas, and even to different countries --Beijing, China and India!! We hope your host family receives them by Monday. They have been sent with our Flat Stanley, directions, and a special message hand-written by each student.
We have begun writing our last name and included this into the project as well. We can't wait to hear all about Stanley's visit with his host family, and hope to see him again by April 7! We will be keeping track of all the exciting places Stanley visits on our world map.
Stay tuned...

Save the Date
Monday, March 21st at 12:00PM we will be celebrating Purim by attending different booths. We will be making groggers, Purim baskets, and playing games in the gym! You will be taking your child from booth to booth within 20 minute intervals, as teachers will be running the booths.
We have been busy reenacting the story of Purim, designing our t-shirts (thank you to all for bringing them in), and will be creating our own puppets.

100th Day of School is HERE!
| We sorted Fruit Loops by color |
| We created a 100th day necklace, counting out 10 Fruit Loops, followed by a straw. |
We presented our 100s day creations to the class --from balloons, chocolate chips, rubber bands, shapes, soy beans, jelly beans, lollipops, toys, silly bands to hershey's kisses. You all worked so hard counting! BRAVO!
We ended the 100th day of school with a counting and listening game. With our 100-chart we placed candy on a specific number. We had so much fun identifying numbers, helping friends, and snacking on some delicious treats!

Big Qu, little qu. What begins with Qu?
Q and U are married. Wherever you see a q, a u will surely follow.
Can you think of a word that begins with a q that isn't followed by a u?
This week we will be talking about these two letters and how they go together like peanut butter and jelly!

Come and join the fun.
The 100th day is here
Hooray! Hooray!
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Tuesday! We can't believe it's been 100 days already! Please send in your 100's creation on Tuesday. They will be put on display in our classroom.
On this very special day we will be spending a lot of time counting.
All year round we have been counting up to this special day by 10s and 1s.
Flat Stanley
We completed Jeff Brown's Flat Stanley.
This book was a big hit in our class and we will be spending a lot of time with this classic children story.
In the story, Stanley Lambchop helps to protect the most expensive painting in the museum. We created our own, which will be on display outside. Soon, Stanley will be coming to your home, as a special guest. More to follow next week!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday on Read Across America Day!
We will be spending this month reading several books by Dr. Seuss and discussing words that rhyme!
Big P, little p. What begins with P?
This week we have been talking about the letter Pp.
We even made blue popcorn and watched as the kernels popped!

Read Across America Day!
In our pajamas, with our favorite books and stuffed animals, we celebrated Read Across America Day! We browsed through pictures with our friends and listened to a read aloud of several stories.
