This week we used shaving cream to practice our letter writing!

Sensory Fun!

Sign, Sealed, Delivered

We are learning all about mail and the post office system.  As a class we brainstormed how to send a letter.  For Special Person's Day, this Monday, we prepared a special surprise for our special guests.  We created our own letter and designed our own stamps.  We licked our envelopes and placed them in our special Toy Story 3 mailbox.  We are waiting for the mail carrier to come to pick up our special letters to deliver to our class on Monday!  We can not wait to share them!

1. Write and illustrate letter to a Special Person

2. Place the letter inside an envelope
 3. Address the envelope to recipient of the Special letter

4. Lick the envelope to close
5. Place two stamps on the envelope

6. Place the letters in the mailbox

We did it!

Celebrating the Chinese New Year

This year was the year of the rabbit.  We listened to a story about the Chinese calendar, looked at special decorations including a firecracker, and learned a traditional dance.  We ate a special vegetarian dumpling snack and went home with "lucky money".  I hope it brings you all good luck.

Special thank you to Erica's family for teaching us about the Chinese New Year!

Superstudent 2/7-2/11

2-4-6-8-
Guess what Friend is really great?
She's helpful, caring, friendly too...
It's Sienna! We love you!
Congratulations Super Student, Sienna!

Big N, little n. What begins with N?

This week we will be learning about the Chinese New Year.  This year is the year of the rabbit.

Specially designed chop sticks were sent home on Friday.  Using chop sticks is another excellent way to help strengthen fine motor skills which is helpful for your child's handwriting.  They can be used in ways other than eating too --manipulating any small item from one location to another.

Love Is...

Special Person's day is coming soon.  If you have not already done so, please let us know who will be attending Monday, February 14 at 1PM.

Mmm... Marshmallows!

While learning all about the letter Mm this week, we created our own designs using colorful marshmallows and toothpicks.  We worked in teams to create some pretty impressive marshmallow creations -- even a hopscotch game!

After reading Joan Sweeney's "Me on the Map", we created our own maps -- maps of our rooms, houses, streets, country, planet.  We labeled our work and will be sending it home soon!
