Big F, little f. What begins with F?

We have so much to be thankful for in our classroom.  Last week we brainstormed what it means to be thankful and discussed things that are important to us.  As Thanksgiving approaches, we will be talking a lot about our family as we prepare for our Thanksgiving Festival.

This week we will be decorating our classroom turkey with lots of Feathers.  We will continue to decorate our costumes for our Thanksgiving Festival and prepare our props for the show.

For Show and Tell this Tuesday, November 16, please bring in something you are thankful for.  Next Tuesday, November 23, please bring in a photo of your family.  A notice will be sent home tomorrow.

Stop, Drop, and Roll

We got to see a paramedic leave the fire station to help a community member in need.

A firefighter has a lot of clothes to put on!
We watched the fireman get dressed in his firefighter outfit.  It is important that if there is a fire that you do not hide.  Firefighters help to make our community a happy, healthy, and safe place.

If there is a fire you should get out of the building right away, whether it is a school, restaurant, our house...  Then, you call 9-1-1.  If your clothes catch on fire, then you STOP, DROP, and ROLL.

Exploring We Will Go!

This morning we went on a scavenger hunt inside our classroom to find eggs.  Not just any eggs, they had something special inside!  What an exciting week learning how to write the capital letter E.  Next week we will be spending time focusing on the lower case e while we begin talking about Thanksgiving.  Inside our classroom we decorated a picture of our family and glittered our name.

This week we learned two songs that we will be singing at our Thanksgiving Festival which has been rescheduled back to it's original date: Wednesday, November 24th!  The show will begin at 10:30, and we are having a lot of fun preparing for this special day.  Conferences will be held after our show on Wednesday.

Monday, November 8th,  we will be visiting the Firehouse.  If you can, dress in red!

Frog and Toad

We have completed all the Frog and Toad books in the Arnold Lobel series.  The class has been overwhelmingly excited about these beginner chapter books and voted on creating a show to perform in.  This is something that will be ongoing but we wanted to share this exciting news with you (if you have not already heard).
Can you tell which character is Frog and Toad?

Last week we discussed the roles we would like to perform as, Frog or Toad.  This week, the class will select which story they would like to perform in and we will keep you updated.

Big E, little e. What begins with E?

Today we learned about Election Day!  In our class we have many opportunities to vote and make decisions that are meaningful in our classroom.  After a very busy weekend of trick-or-treating, we took a vote on our favorite candy.  We also discussed the importance of voting, the age you must be in order to vote, and what happens when people do not choose to participate in making such an important decision.

As we continue to learn how to write letters in the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes, we are also learning how to write numbers.  We worked on the number zero today.

School is closed tomorrow, for Election Day.  We will return Wednesday -- and we will be having Show and Tell on Wednesday this week.  Again, there is no set topic, please send in anything your child would like to share with the class.
